The Grand Canal is a fantastic way to see Venice, on a vaporetto, which is a rounded passenger boat that can carry over 200 people. The canal was one day packed full of cargo boats transporting things for sale, but today it is still a main thoroughfare. Different kinds of boats travel there now, however!
The Grand Canal travels through many main areas of Venice, and the boat also has a tour guide on board who will introduce you to all the notable historic buildings and areas as you pass by. The boats are comfortable with a range of amenities on board. You can purchase tickets for the boats at most shops, too, including tobacconists and Hellovenezia offices throughout the city. However, if you want to buy a ticket on board you will only be able to buy a single ticket.
You can get a single trip for 6.50 Euros, and the price goes up by the amount of days you want the ticket to be valid for.
